About GReddy

GReddy is the performance parts brand of Trust Co., Ltd., a Japanese tuning company founded in 1977 with Masamitsu Hayakawa among its founders. Trust is based in Chiba Prefecture. Toyota's GAZOO media explains that the name GReddy combines "Great" and "Eddy," a reference to the swirling intake air of a turbocharger. In the United States the company operates as GReddy Performance Products. Trust could not use its own name in the US market, and the American arm has handled development and distribution since 1994.

Trust started out making exhaust parts, and its blue-finished exhaust manifolds became a signature look. Bolt-on turbo kits became a core product, and the Rebic injector controller was another big seller. The range later grew to include engine parts, boost controllers, intercoolers and exhausts, plus the GREX and GRacer lines. In 1983 Trust raced a Porsche 956 in Japanese sports prototype endurance racing, which GAZOO says won the series championship that year.

GReddy and the JDM scene

For many American enthusiasts, GReddy was one of the first Japanese tuning brands they ever saw. Its bolt-on turbo kits, intercoolers, exhausts and boost controllers were common in the import tuner era. Those parts appeared on everything from Civics and Miatas to Supras, Skylines and RX-7s. The brand also has a drift pedigree: Trust built the GReddy 35RX Spec-D, an R35 GT-R based car, to compete in D1 Grand Prix. GReddy remains a common brand for turbo kits, intercoolers, oil coolers and exhausts.
